The Mediaeval Baebes - The Rose
This is the Mediaeval Baebes' fourth album, and in my opinion, not their best. I was fortunate enough to see the Mediaeval Baebes live earlier this summer, and they really put on a great show. It was very nice to hear them introducing each song, describing how they came to be singing it, etc. There’s only one track on this CD that really stands out for me - “The Snake”, although “There is no Rose of Swych Vertu” is very pretty. A few tracks I just plain don’t like - I find the harmonies in “Slay Me Suddenly” quite jarring; and some just seem extremely similar to previous tracks.
